Canon EOS 5D, EOS 10D, EOS 20D, EOS 30D, EOS 40D – Replacement Battery Charger (Incl. Car Adapter)

Hmm my model looks different from the picture
The model that I purchased looks way different from the one in the picture (However, Amazon says I purchsed this model so I'll review it...). The model I had included a silver body and a more slender shape (not so boxy). I think they changed the picture because the brand name is not a very famous one. It is obviously made in China so these things are fairly cheap in construction.

The model I had included two led indicators. They didn't do anything though so it was useless. Also, mine is not certified by any standard like UL.

When I plug it into the wall, it makes a high pitched hissing sound sometimes. Thats how you know its working! jk I feel like it's a dangerous product because it's made in China and not certifed. However, if this newer model you see in the picture is certified then it must be ok. I haven't had any bad experiece so far. It charged my battery ok and I was still able to take lots of pictures.

I wouldn't trust using the car charger for this. Especially if you have OEM batteries. Something doesn't feel right about charging a high quality battery "rapidly" with a 12V DC source (or does it get alternated by the alternator? forgot...).

I bought this charger because I lost my original oem one. I just needed something cheap to do the job and it works just fine.

I'm still a little skeptical though. The voltage output is about 50 percent different from the OEM version. I did a little research because those OEM batteries cost 30-50 dollars. I don't know if the voltage output should affect the charge rate. Nothing beats OEM though... quality wise and trust
